Status update

What’s been going on lately? Well, not much. I’ve been doing contract work for the past month or so in order to make myself, well, economically independent for the coming months. The good news is: I’m done, and I can really focus on more important things now, such as family or open source work. Which is good news for this project I guess :)

SCDS - A scripting language for configuration and build tasks

SCDS, or “Simple & Convenient D-like Scripting language” is a language used by ElysianWorld for tasks like building projects, linking executables and libraries, and a few other purposes. Its syntax is similar to D, and it features variables as well as struct, list, and enum types, functions, and a selection of control structures.

The ElysianWorld Journal opens its doors

In preparation for the upcoming release of libd, the first publicly released component of the ElysianWorld project, I have started the ElysianWorld Journal. Here, I’ll keep you up-to-date on the development and testing progress. Please feel invited to let me know about your thoughts and concerns, criticism and ideas in the comments section of every article.

What the ElysianWorld project is about

There have been numerous public discussions over the past couple of years regarding software patents, copyright and ownership issues surrounding open source projects, license disputes, and so on. We all know about the SCO story, or the heated debates between the BSD and GNU camps. Also, from a programmer’s point of view, many current software environments were built on a shaky foundation of aging technology (most prominently the C programming language, and the Unix and Windows APIs). ElysianWorld is an endeavor to bring advanced technology to programmers and users without the burden of copyright and licensing issues.
